Sleeping Pills

Sleeping pills, also called sedatives, work by depressing the central nervous system which results in a state of relaxation, causing calmness and a desire to sleep.

According to the Wikipedia, sedatives will cause one or more of these effects:

* calmness

* relaxation

* reduction of anxiety

* sleepiness

* slowed breathing

* slurred speech

* staggering gait

* poor judgment

* slow reflexes

Sleeping pills can help immensely when stress, traveling, depression or other non-ideal situations keep you awake and unable to doze off. However, doctors prefer to administer them for short periods only and attend to the root causes of the sleeping ailments through other methods of treatment.
