Beds for Better Sleep

Your bed is a big part of how comfortable and suitable your bedroom is for getting quality sleep.

As a guideline, I highly recommend the following rules for choosing your bed:

* Never buy a bed with screwed-on parts.

While they are convenient for moving because they allow easy disassembly, the screws will always loosen with time and they will be noisy, especially when you use it for sex.

They will creak, some as soon as a couple of days after installation. I love wooden bed foundations, they're both classy and sturdy when done right.

* If you have kids, avoid spring mattresses.

Kids WILL play on your bed and they WILL jump around as hard as they can and they WILL mess up the springs. Don't tempt your kids, springs are jumpy, they're too hard to resist. Buy something else.

* Replace mattresses when they feel like they need to be replaced

You will know when your mattress is all used up and needs to be changed. They will no longer support you the way they used to and they will no longer feel as good as when you first lied down on them at the store.

* Choose mattresses that are comfortable. Never buy unless you try.

So what if you look silly lying down in a bed in the middle of a store? A mattress should hold your spine in proper alignment, feel comfortable and make no squeaky sounds when you move and there's no way to asses that unless you try it first.
