The Warrior Diet

Ori Hofmekler’s Warrior Diet is based on the idea that humans should hunt in the day and celebrate the day’s success at night.

Thus, he proposes that we eat very light during the day (liquids or salads only) and then feast like a cow during the evening. He recommends a short fast of 12 to 16 hours, starting from the time you sleep up to the time the sun sets, around 7 pm or later. Doing this will normalize the body into peak performance, the way nature intended for it to be.

Many people, including me, who have used this diet praise it for the alertness and focus it seems to create. The regular hunger cycle seems to stimulate a hunter instinct that makes me very sharp during the day when work needs to be done. I’ve also stopped having sleeping troubles after I’ve started doing the diet. I think the combination of the great appetite for work during the day, and the feast at night just helps me sleep like a baby.

The Warrior Diet is often referred to as a controlled fasting diet, because we fast for a short amount of time but do so in regular measured intervals. If you're doing the diet to lose weight, it pays to follow traditional nutrition conventions, like limiting carbohyrate intake to ensure maximum benefits.
