Wanting and Believing

This is becoming one of my favorite morning activities.  Oftentimes, I like taking long dumps too but this is a little better than that.

I picked this up from Esther and Jerry Hicks (actually, it’s supposed to be from Abraham, the spirit entities), who suggested it as a way to renew desire and belief in your goals everyday.gaping mouth

I take a piece of paper, draw a vertical line down the middle.  On one side I write “Want.”  On the other side, I write “Belief.”  Sometimes, I draw silly cartoons too with big teeth and gaping mouths but that is just irrelevant.

On top of the paper, I write down my goal.  Then on the “Want” side, I put down 15 reasons why I want this goal achieved.  For example, one of my goals is to make twice of my total income from 2 months ago solely from my business projects by first quarter of next year.  So I list down the reasons why I want that.  I put down, “So I can quit my regular job and have more control of my hours,” “So I can move into a bigger place,” etc.  On the “Belief” side, I write down the reasons why I believe it will happen.  They range from as simple as “Because I deserve it and it’s my time,” to as factual as ”Because my income has already increased by 1/3 from 2 months ago and it will only get better,” to one of pure joy: “Because I feel so happy everytime I think of it! Yeeeeeahhhh!”

I do one paper for each of my goals.  It takes about 3 to 5 minutes for each one.  After I write one down, I read it one pass then throw it away.  It’s a great way to start my mornings, rekindling my desires and beliefs for the day ahead.

I sometimes do it on short breaks in the office too.  Great reminder to refocus on the big picture, instead of getting lost in the tiny details of work like people seem to tend to do.
