Modified To-Do List

I use a modified paper-based to-do list for listing all my tasks for the day. It is a dual-purposed list intended to :
(1) List all to-do items
(2) List all opportunities to watch out for

What I do is I take a half-sheet of A4 size paper and fold it in half. On the LEFT side, I write TODO. On the RIGHT side, I write OPPORTUNITIES.

The left side contains all my regular to-do items: pay this bill, test this code, call this client, reserve a seminar seat, etc. I cross out every item I get done and move on to the next more urgent uncrossed item.

The right side contains opportunities I am watching for, that are related to my present goals. For example, I am intending to get a brand new car. On that column, I put CAR SALE, CAR DISCOUNTS, CAR PAYMENT PLANS, CAR RAFFLES. As a result everytime I look at my to-do list, I also get a chance to refresh on what I want to look out for during the day. This results in heightened awareness when those situations come by. I’ve already joined 2 car raffles and talked with 1 bank who had a huge poster of a supposed great financing deal (which really isn’t that great.) Everytime I notice an opportunity listed on my OPPORTUNITIES column, I circle it just to reinforce to myself that it works.

Got the idea for this after listening to a podcast some months ago though I forgot which one exactly.
